On March 31, 2025, the release notes for Valve's "Spring Forward" update changed which collections the weekly care package draws from. Three new collections went in, Ascent, Boreal and Radiant, and four older ones came out: Bank, Italy, Lake and the original Train collection. It was the first change to that list in Valve's release notes since the care package replaced weekly drops at launch in September 2023. The Armory side of the same update is covered in our Fever Case article.
What changed in the care package
Prime accounts get a weekly care package after their first rank-up of the week and pick two of four rewards, which can include skins from the drop collections. Our drop pool guide explains the details.
Valve's announcement said that "with over 70 new finishes, these collections feature a wide range of styles from solid colors, gold reliefs, camo patterns, custom paint jobs and more." Between them they hold 85 skins:
| Collection | Skins | Classified skin | Browse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ascent | 28 | M4A1-S Stratosphere | Buy |
| Boreal | 29 | AWP Green Energy | Buy |
| Radiant | 28 | AK-47 Nouveau Rouge | Buy |
All three run from Consumer Grade up to a single Classified skin, with no Covert tier. As with other drop and map collections, there are no StatTrak versions.
The four removed collections stopped arriving through drops from that day, so the copies already in circulation are all that route will ever produce.

What it means for collectors
The upper tiers are small: Ascent and Boreal have one Classified and two Restricted skins each, Radiant one Classified and three Restricted. Everything else sits at Mil-Spec or below.
You can also reach the top skins through trade-up contracts: ten skins of one grade return one skin of the next grade, picked from a collection of one of the inputs. Ten Restricted inputs from a single one of these collections can only produce its Classified skin, because each collection has just one. The Classified skins themselves can't go into a contract, since they are already the top grade of their collection. For where drop collections sit next to cases, terminals and the Armory, see collections vs cases.
Inferno and Train spring cleaning
Valve summed up the map work as "cleaner surfaces, less clutter, and a slightly wider banana." The release notes listed:
Inferno
- Banana adjusted to "more closely match the size of the CS:GO version"
- Simpler backgrounds behind T ramp, in the view into Pit and around Bombsite B
- Step removed on the sides of the Arch hallway, and a pixel gap at Coffin closed
- Crates on the steps up to balcony adjusted so players step up reliably
- Props and player and grenade collision adjusted across the map
Train
- Fixed player shadows rendering through the windows above A main, and some holes in the world
- Simpler wall by the door to Z, background by upper B entrance and brick wall by Ivy
- Shortened roof rail over A site, "to make it easier to throw utility into site"
- See-through grating outside Z door and fences at the top of Ivy replaced with solid versions
- Fixed grenade collision on the upper B arch
Both maps were in the Active Duty pool at the time, so the changes reached Premier and competitive play straight away. Valve returned to both on July 28, 2025 with new cover on Train's A and B sites and a reshaped church garden path on Inferno.
Where it stands now
On January 21, 2026 Valve made the next rotation: it added the Harlequin and Achroma collections and removed Safehouse, Dust 2, the 2018 Nuke Collection and the 2018 Inferno Collection. Ascent, Boreal and Radiant were not among the removals, and none of Valve's release notes up to October 2026 take them out of the care package. The Harlequin and Achroma article covers that update.
