The Gods and Monsters Collection is a set of 14 weapon finishes built around Greek mythology, led by the AWP | Medusa and the M4A4 | Poseidon. It was never sold in a case. Valve handed it out as operation drops in 2015, 2016 and 2017, and the Counter-Strike Wiki now lists it as no longer available in drops.
An operation-only collection
Operation Bloodhound launched on May 26, 2015. Valve's release notes introduced Profile Ranks: the first rank you earned each week came with a weapon drop, and holders of the Bloodhound Access Pass got that drop from a set of exclusive collections. Three older map collections, Cobblestone, Cache and Overpass, were joined by three new ones: Gods and Monsters, The Rising Sun and Chop Shop. Valve said the operation would run until September 30, 2015.
The same six collections came back twice. Valve's Operation Wildfire post of February 17, 2016 said earned weapon drops during that operation would come from the same list. Operation Hydra, from May 23, 2017, handed out operation weapon drops from those six collections as pass holders earned stars.
Valve's item definitions place the collection in no weapon case and no souvenir package. That has two consequences. No Gods and Monsters skin exists in StatTrak, because StatTrak versions only ever come from cases. And today the skins are bought, traded or made with trade-up contracts.
The collection by rarity
Valve's files rank the 14 finishes like this:
| Rarity | Skins |
|---|---|
| Covert | AWP Medusa |
| Classified | M4A4 Poseidon |
| Restricted | G3SG1 Chronos, M4A1-S Icarus Fell |
| Mil-Spec | MP9 Pandora's Box, UMP-45 Minotaur's Labyrinth |
| Industrial | AWP Sun in Leo, M249 Shipping Forecast, P2000 Pathfinder, Tec-9 Hades |
| Consumer | AUG Daedalus, Dual Berettas Moon in Libra, MP7 Asterion, Nova Moon in Libra |
Several float ranges are capped. The Poseidon stops at 0.33, so it only comes in Factory New, Minimal Wear and Field-Tested, and the Icarus Fell stops at 0.10, which leaves only Factory New and Minimal Wear. The Medusa covers the full 0.00 to 1.00 range, so every wear exists. Our float guide explains how caps work.
The AWP Medusa
The Medusa's description is short: the rifle "has been custom painted with the image of a gorgon", and the flavour text warns, "If you can see me, you're already dead." Despite the wording, Valve's files list it as a patina finish rather than a custom paint job. Valve's Weapon Finishes Guide describes patina as a chemical layer that hardens over metal, with separate colours for the bare metal that scratches reveal, the fresh and aged patina, and the grime that collects in recesses.
It is the collection's only Covert, and like the AWP Dragon Lore it belongs to a small group of top-grade AWPs that never came out of a weapon case.

The M4A4 Poseidon
The Poseidon is "custom painted with a depiction of a battle between Pisces and Poseidon", with the flavour text "Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead". As the collection's only Classified, it sits directly below the Medusa, which matters for trade-ups.
The rest of the pantheon
The lower tiers lean on the same stories. Four skins share an isometric labyrinth stencil: the UMP-45 Minotaur's Labyrinth, the MP7 Asterion, the AUG Daedalus and the P2000 Pathfinder. A zodiac hydrographic appears on four guns: the Dual Berettas and Nova in Moon in Libra, the AWP Sun in Leo and the M249 Shipping Forecast. The Tec-9 Hades is printed with ancient Greek helmets, and the Counter-Strike Wiki notes that on a heavily worn copy the scratches on those helmets form skulls.
Higher up, the M4A1-S Icarus Fell shows feathers and melted wax around a sun motif, the G3SG1 Chronos is decorated with watch mechanisms in psychedelic colours, and the MP9 Pandora's Box is airbrushed with cartoon spirits. Several flavour texts quote the Bloodhound campaigns. The Icarus Fell carries a line from Sebastien Hennequet, who narrated the Counter-Terrorist Marksman campaign, and the MP7 Asterion quotes Valeria Jenner, the voice of the Terrorist Revolution campaign.

How trade-ups link the tiers
A trade-up contract exchanges ten skins of one rarity for one skin of the next rarity, drawn from the collection of one of the inputs. Gods and Monsters has exactly one Classified and one Covert, so ten Poseidons can only become a Medusa. In the same way, ten Restricted inputs from the collection, any mix of Chronos and Icarus Fell, can only become a Poseidon. The Cobblestone Collection works the same way for the Dragon Lore, and our trade-up guide covers mixed contracts and the float formula.
The October 2025 rule that turns five Covert skins into a knife or gloves does not reach the Medusa. That contract draws from the knives and gloves of an input's collection, and Gods and Monsters has none.
Souvenir copies since 2026
The collection had no Souvenir versions until May 2026. The Souvenir-O-Matic introduced for the IEM Cologne 2026 Major lets players convert a normal weapon they own into a Souvenir with four gold stickers from a completed match, which means Souvenir Medusas and Poseidons can now exist even though no package ever held them. Each one is a converted normal copy, so the conversions do not add to the supply.
Buying a Gods and Monsters skin
- Check the cap. A Field-Tested Poseidon near 0.33 is as worn as that skin gets, and an Icarus Fell at 0.09 is only just Minimal Wear.
- There is no StatTrak. A listing that claims a StatTrak Medusa or Poseidon is not a real item.
- Read Souvenir stickers. On a Souvenir, the gold stickers name a 2026 Cologne match and the player chosen at conversion.
- Use the collection filter. On CS2Sell, the collection filter on Buy shows every Gods and Monsters skin in one list, and the float range filter narrows it to the wear you want.
