NiKo: Team Falcons' Major-winning rifler, career and settings

NiKo went from mousesports, FaZe and G2 to Falcons and won his first Major at Cologne 2026, his 17th. His career, HLTV record and NiKo settings with dates.

Nikola "NiKo" Kovač is the Bosnian rifler who spent more than a decade in what HLTV called the "best players never to win a Major" club, until Team Falcons swept FURIA 3-0 at IEM Cologne on June 21, 2026. NiKo has played for mousesports, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports and Falcons, and no one has appeared in HLTV's top 20 players of the year more often. This profile covers his career up to October 27, 2026 and the settings published for him, with the source and date for each.

mousesports and a 52-kill record

NiKo played for regional teams such as iNation before mousesports signed him in March 2015. His first Major was DreamHack Cluj-Napoca later that year, which also gave him his first autograph sticker, as our Cluj-Napoca 2015 article notes. At MLG Columbus 2016 he scored 52 kills on one map against FlipSid3 Tactics, which Liquipedia lists as the most by any player in a Major map. HLTV ranked him 11th for 2016.

FaZe Clan, 2017 to 2020

FaZe signed him in February 2017, and his peak years followed. With FaZe he won events such as ESL One New York 2017, ELEAGUE Premier 2017, ESL One Belo Horizonte and EPICENTER in 2018. His 1.70 rating in New York set the record for a Big Event, which donk equalled at IEM Katowice in 2024. HLTV placed him second for 2017 and third for 2018.

The Majors were harder. His first Major final, at the ELEAGUE Major Boston in January 2018, ended in a 2-1 loss to Cloud9, covered in our Boston 2018 article.

G2 Esports, 2020 to 2025

NiKo moved to G2 in October 2020. A second Major final came at PGL Stockholm in 2021, lost 2-0 to Natus Vincere; our Stockholm 2021 article tells that story. G2 then won the BLAST Premier World Final 2022, IEM Katowice 2023 and IEM Cologne 2023, where NiKo was MVP, and HLTV ranked him second again for 2023.

In 2024 G2 added IEM Dallas and both BLAST Premier finals, but the CS2 Majors ended at the semi-final stage twice: against Natus Vincere in Copenhagen and FaZe in Shanghai.

NiKo in CS2 with Falcons

Falcons signed him from G2 on January 3, 2025, and added René "TeSeS" Madsen, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, also from G2, and Maksim "kyousuke" Lukin from Spirit's academy during the year. PGL Bucharest in April 2025 was their first title together, won 3-0 against G2, but the Majors did not follow: an early exit in Austin and a quarter-final loss to Spirit in Budapest. HLTV ranked him 18th for 2025, his tenth straight year in the list.

On April 20, 2026 Falcons brought in Finn "karrigan" Andersen from FaZe Clan as in-game leader. At Cologne, Falcons beat the defending champions Team Vitality 2-1, with every map going to 24 rounds as Valve noted, then Spirit 2-1 and FURIA 3-0. HLTV reported that m0NESY carried the first two maps of the final with a 1.80 rating, and that NiKo and kyousuke combined for 33 kills on Inferno, the last.

"It definitely was worth the wait," NiKo said after the match, as HLTV reported. Liquipedia records that he became the first Bosnian to win a Major, and that he and FalleN are the first players to reach Major finals with three organisations. The event itself is in our Cologne 2026 article.

Falcons' results since then have been mixed, with a semi-final at BLAST Open Fall and a quarter-final exit at ESL Pro League Season 24, both against Spirit. Valve's Regional Standings of October 5, 2026 placed them sixth, with karrigan, kyousuke, m0NESY, NiKo and TeSeS; Danny "zonic" Sørensen is the coach.

NiKo viewmodel

ProSettings lists viewmodel_fov 68, viewmodel_offset_x 2.5, viewmodel_offset_y 0 and viewmodel_offset_z -1.5, which puts the field of view and the sideways offset at the highest values CS2's files allow.

NiKo stickers and skins

Valve's game files hold a NiKo autograph for every one of his 17 Majors, from Cluj-Napoca 2015 to Cologne 2026. After the final, Valve added Falcons' Champions Autograph stickers in paper, holo, foil and gold, so Cologne 2026 is the only event with a NiKo Champion autograph.
