Major Viewer Pass and Pick'Em in CS2: coins, Souvenir tokens and rewards

What a CS2 Major Viewer Pass includes, how Pick'Em upgrades your coin, what Souvenir tokens and Cologne 2026's shop tokens could be redeemed for, and how the pass changed from 2019 to 2026.

The Viewer Pass is the item Valve has sold for every Counter-Strike Major since 2019. You activate it to get an event coin, then upgrade the coin by predicting results in the Pick'Em Challenge. What each upgrade pays out has changed several times since 2019, from Souvenir packages to Souvenir tokens to the shop tokens used at Cologne 2026, so the same coin can mean different things depending on the year.

Pick'Em before the pass

Pick'Em is older than the Viewer Pass. According to the Counter-Strike Wiki, until 2019 you had to own the sticker of each team you wanted to pick, earned points for correct picks and could win a Bronze, Silver or Gold trophy at 25, 50 and 75 points. The trophies remain collectible inventory items.

Katowice 2019: the first pass

IEM Katowice 2019 introduced the Viewer Pass. Valve's FAQ for that event listed what it included: an upgradable event coin, the Pick'Em Challenge for all 24 teams, team graffiti, Steam.tv flair and "exclusive access" to Souvenir packages. The coin went from Bronze to Silver, Gold and Diamond as you completed five, seven and all eleven challenges, by watching live matches and making correct picks.

Each upgrade let you claim a Souvenir package from a completed match of your choice, up to three in total. Valve answered the question "Is the Katowice 2019 Viewer Pass the only way to receive Souvenir Packages?" with "Yes". Our Katowice 2019 article covers that Major.

Berlin 2019 to Budapest 2025: Souvenir tokens

StarLadder Berlin 2019 added Souvenir tokens and two versions of the pass. Valve's FAQ set out the rules that lasted, with small changes, until 2025:

  • Two passes. A Viewer Pass, or a Viewer Pass + 3 that started you with three Souvenir tokens.
  • Coin upgrades earn tokens. Each upgrade gave one token, so you could earn up to three.
  • Buy more. With an active pass you could buy "as many Souvenir Tokens as you'd like".
  • Redeem by match. A token became a Souvenir package from any completed match, with a deadline after the event.
  • One per account. Only one pass could be activated, but spare passes could be traded or sold on the Steam Community Market.

Berlin's coin also had matchmaking missions on each Active Duty map. Our Berlin 2019 article has the details.

The CS2 Majors

At PGL Copenhagen 2024, the first CS2 Major, Valve changed who could play. Its announcement noted that "in the past, you needed an active pass to play the Pick'Em game". From then on everyone with Prime status could place picks for free, but completing challenges and earning rewards still needed a pass activated before each stage began. Pass holders also appeared on an Active Pass Leaderboard to compare picks with friends. Shanghai 2024 used the same rules.

Austin 2025 kept the coin, team graffiti and Souvenir tokens, which you could earn or buy. It also changed what a token gave for playoff matches: a Souvenir Highlight Package, a Souvenir weapon with a charm carrying a video clip from the chosen map. Valve said those would be redeemable shortly after the Major ended. Budapest 2025 kept the same pass and coin. Our Souvenir packages guide explains the packages themselves.

Cologne 2026: tokens for the Major Shop

IEM Cologne 2026 dropped sticker capsules and Souvenir packages. The pass still gave you a coin to upgrade from Bronze to Silver, Gold and Diamond, but in Valve's words, "with each upgrade you'll get 300 tokens that you can redeem for the stickers or souvenirs of your choice". Those tokens were the currency of the new Major Shop, where stickers were priced by demand, and of the Souvenir-O-Matic, which turned a weapon you own into a Souvenir.

Strafe listed two versions on sale on May 22, 2026: the Cologne 2026 Viewer Pass at $9.99 and the Cologne 2026 Viewer Pass + 900 Tokens at $18, with all 11 challenges needed for Diamond. Valve's FAQ added that extra tokens could only be bought at checkout, with a minimum of 100 tokens for $0.99, and that tokens could not be refunded once activated. Our Major sticker capsules guide covers how the shop worked.

Where the money goes

Valve shares pass revenue with the people at the event. For Katowice and Berlin in 2019 it said 50% of the proceeds went to the players and organisations. For Cologne 2026 it said 50% of total Major Shop and Major Pass revenue was shared with the tournament organiser, teams and players, with the share for each team depending on its result.

What to check before you buy

  • Activate early. Rewards for a stage only count if the pass is active before that stage starts.
  • Read the item name. "Viewer Pass", "Viewer Pass + 3 Souvenir Tokens" and "Viewer Pass + 900 Tokens" are different items, and the event name tells you which Major a pass or coin belongs to.
  • Check the next Major. As of October 10, 2026, Valve had not announced what PGL Singapore's pass will include or whether the Cologne shop returns. Our Singapore 2026 guide tracks what is confirmed.
