The Winter Offensive Weapon Case and the Huntsman Weapon Case were the first two community cases, filled with Steam Workshop designs and opened with keys of their own. The first gave the M4A4 its Asiimov; the second introduced the Huntsman Knife and, for six weeks, contained the M4A4 | Howl. Here is what each case holds, what changed in June 2014 and where both stand in CS2 as of October 2026.
The Winter Offensive Weapon Case (December 2013)
Valve's release notes for December 18, 2013 added "the Winter Offensive Case, the first-ever community-made case." The same update swapped in the eSports 2013 Winter Case, added gift packages and put Cobblestone and Overpass on community servers. The case opens with its own Winter Offensive Case Key.
Its rare special item is the original knife pool: the Bayonet, Flip Knife, Gut Knife, Karambit and M9 Bayonet, plain or in the 12 Arms Deal finishes, as in the first three weapon cases. The wiki's introduction says 12 skins, but its own gallery and the game's loot list both have 13.
The Huntsman Weapon Case (May 2014)
Valve's notes for May 1, 2014 list three additions: the Huntsman Case, the Bank Collection as a drop, and Community Sticker Capsule 1. The case brought a new rare item, the Huntsman Knife, a fixed-blade tactical knife with a tanto point and the first model added after the original five. It comes plain or in the same 12 original finishes, so 13 versions in all. The Huntsman later got Chroma finishes through the Spectrum cases.

The June 2014 swap
On June 11, 2014, Valve updated the Huntsman Case and the first community sticker capsule after a copyright infringement claim over the Howl's wolf artwork. Valve's post says nine items were removed from the case and capsule together and replaced. According to the Counter-Strike Wiki, six of them came out of the case: the Howl, which was redrawn by Valve and given the new Contraband rarity, and five finishes by one of its contributors.
| Grade | Removed in June 2014 | Added in June 2014 |
|---|---|---|
| Covert | M4A4 Howl | M4A4 Desert-Strike |
| Classified | USP-S Orion | USP-S Caiman |
| Restricted | MAC-10 Curse | MAC-10 Tatter |
| Mil-Spec | Dual Berettas Retribution, P90 Desert Warfare, CZ75-Auto Poison Dart | CZ75-Auto Twist, P90 Module, P2000 Pulse |
The five non-Howl finishes kept their normal rarity and still belong to the Huntsman Collection in the game files, so trade-up contracts can still produce them. The Howl can't be unboxed or produced at all. Our Howl history tells the full story.
What each case contains today
| Grade | Winter Offensive | Huntsman (since June 2014) |
|---|---|---|
| Covert | M4A4 Asiimov, Sawed-Off The Kraken | AK-47 Vulcan, M4A4 Desert-Strike |
| Classified | M4A1-S Guardian, P250 Mehndi, AWP Redline | M4A1-S Atomic Alloy, SCAR-20 Cyrex, USP-S Caiman |
| Restricted | FAMAS Pulse, Dual Berettas Marina, MP9 Rose Iron, Nova Rising Skull | AUG Torque, PP-Bizon Antique, XM1014 Heaven Guard, MAC-10 Tatter |
| Mil-Spec | Galil AR Sandstorm, Five-SeveN Kami, M249 Magma, PP-Bizon Cobalt Halftone | Tec-9 Isaac, SSG 08 Slashed, Galil AR Kami, CZ75-Auto Twist, P90 Module, P2000 Pulse |
Skins worth knowing
M4A4 | Asiimov. Its float range starts at 0.18, so there is no Factory New or Minimal Wear copy, and Field-Tested is as clean as it gets.
AWP | Redline. Limited to 0.10 to 0.40, it exists only in Minimal Wear, Field-Tested and Well-Worn.
Sawed-Off | The Kraken. The Winter Offensive's second Covert stops at 0.40, so it never reaches Battle-Scarred.
AK-47 | Vulcan. The Huntsman's surviving original Covert, with a range of 0.00 to 0.90. The case's other Covert, the M4A4 | Desert-Strike that took the Howl's slot, runs from 0.00 to 0.70.
Huntsman Knife finishes. The knife follows the same caps as the original five: Fade only goes up to 0.08, so a Huntsman Knife | Fade is always Factory New or Minimal Wear, while Slaughter stops at 0.26. Case Hardened covers the whole range, and its pattern seed sets the amount of blue just as it does on the AK-47.
Tec-9 | Isaac. The wiki notes it was first uploaded as "Tec-9 | Asiimov" by the creator of the Asiimov designs, and that the final name nods to the author Isaac Asimov.

StatTrak and where they stand
Every gun and knife in both cases has a StatTrak version, and the game files list a StatTrak copy of each knife pool.
Neither case is in the current weekly drop pool. Community drop trackers have recorded no rare-pool drops since December 2025, as Hotspawn reported that month, and Valve hasn't commented, so both supplies now only shrink as people open them.
Since October 22, 2025, five Covert skins can be traded up into a knife from the collection of one of them. Winter Offensive Coverts lead to the original five knives; the AK-47 | Vulcan and M4A4 | Desert-Strike lead to the Huntsman Knife. Five StatTrak Coverts return a StatTrak knife.
