How a Major works now
Valve's Major rulebook sets the same structure for every organiser. Thirty-two teams play three Swiss stages of 16, where three wins advance and three losses eliminate. Matches are best of one, except those that decide advancement or elimination, which are best of three. The last eight play a single-elimination bracket, and since Budapest 2025 the grand final has been best of five.
Every team is invited from the Valve Regional Standings (VRS): 16 to Stage 1, eight to Stage 2 and eight to Stage 3. Stage 1 has six places for Europe, six for the Americas and four for Asia. For the later stages, a region gets one Stage 3 place for each of its teams that reached the previous Major's playoffs, and one Stage 2 place for each of its other teams that reached Stage 3.
Majors use the in-game Active Duty map pool. Since July 2026 that has been Ancient, Anubis, Cache, Dust II, Inferno, Mirage and Nuke, after Cache replaced Overpass.
PGL Major Singapore 2026
PGL announced the Singapore Major on December 8, 2025 as the first Counter-Strike Major in Southeast Asia and its own fifth Major, after Kraków, Stockholm, Antwerp and Copenhagen. The prize pool is $1,250,000.
PGL's own dates differ. The announcement and its event page say November 25 to December 13, while PGL news posts from April and August 2026 say November 24. HLTV lists Stage 1 from November 24 to 27, Stage 2 from November 28 to December 1 and Stage 3 from December 2 to 6. The playoffs move to the Singapore Indoor Stadium, which PGL says holds more than 12,000, from December 10 to 13. We could not find an announced venue for the first three stages.
Two format changes are confirmed. The grand final is best of five, and for the first time at a Major the two losing semi-finalists will play a third-place decider, on Sunday, December 13, before the final.
Invitations will use the VRS published on November 2. Applying Valve's rule to the Cologne 2026 results, Liquipedia lists these places by region:
| Region | Stage 1 | Stage 2 | Stage 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe | 6 | 6 | 6 |
| Americas | 6 | 1 | 2 |
| Asia | 4 | 1 | 0 |
FiReSPORTS' own analysis gives the same nine places for the Americas: two in Stage 3 thanks to FURIA and 9z reaching the Cologne playoffs, but one fewer in total than at Cologne. Our PGL Major Singapore 2026 guide covers the event in more detail.

FiReMAJOR Buenos Aires 2027
HLTV reported on January 16, 2026 that the first Major of 2027 would go to FiReSPORTS in Buenos Aires, and the Argentine organiser's founder and CEO, Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes, confirmed it to HLTV. FiReSPORTS published its own confirmation two days later.
It runs from May 31 to June 20, 2027, the dates HLTV reported and FiReSPORTS' site lists. It will be the first Major in Argentina, which HLTV counted as the fourteenth country to host one, and the first in South America since IEM Rio 2022. FiReSPORTS lists 32 teams and a prize pool of "$1.25M+".
FiReSPORTS has named two venues. Stages 1 to 3 are at the Usina del Arte, which it describes as a building from 1912 to 1916 turned into a cultural centre in 2012. The playoffs are at the Movistar Arena, which Dust2.us put at roughly 15,000 seats. FiReSPORTS says its earlier FiReBATTLE event there drew more than 10,000 people. Ticket sales opened with an Argentina-only pre-sale from July 30 to August 2, 2026, and worldwide sales from August 3.
Not yet announced, as far as we could find: playoff dates, the VRS date used for invites, a prize breakdown and whether the early stages will have a crowd.

Perfect World Shanghai Major 2027
On September 15, 2026, Perfect World announced that it will host the 2027 winter Major in Shanghai, in November and December 2027. HLTV had reported the move in January, citing sources, with dates of November 22 to December 12. Those match the window Valve set for the second 2027 Major in its call for bids, as reported by HLTV in January 2025, but Perfect World's announcement gave only the months.
It will be the second Major in Shanghai after the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024, the first held in Asia, where Team Spirit beat FaZe Clan 2–1 in the final. No venue or prize pool has been announced.

2028: reported, not confirmed
According to HLTV, Valve's call for bids set the 2028 windows as May 29 to June 18 and November 20 to December 10. In January 2026 HLTV reported, citing sources, that ESL and BLAST had won the two 2028 Majors. We found no confirmation from Valve, ESL or BLAST as of October 10, 2026, so treat both organisers and any rumoured cities as unconfirmed.
Stickers and souvenirs
At IEM Cologne 2026 Valve replaced sticker capsules and souvenir packages with a Major Shop and the Souvenir-O-Matic. Valve's submission guidelines say team and player autograph items are made for every CS2 Major, and PGL set November 9 as the deadline for Singapore teams to submit theirs. Valve's announcements up to October 10 have not said how Singapore items will be sold, or whether the Cologne system stays.
Our guides to Major sticker capsules and Souvenir packages explain both systems.
