Counter-Strike 2 has seven submachine guns, and between them they have only seven Covert finishes, so much of the interest sits in Classified skins and low-float finishes. This guide goes gun by gun through the notable ones: where each came from, its rarity and float window, and which versions exist.
Which side uses which SMG
| SMG | Side | Covert finishes |
|---|---|---|
| MP9 | CT | Starlight Protector |
| MAC-10 | T | Neon Rider, Stalker |
| MP7 | Both | Bloodsport |
| MP5-SD | Both | None |
| UMP-45 | Both | None |
| P90 | Both | Death by Kitty, Asiimov |
| PP-Bizon | Both | Judgement of Anubis |
The MP9 and MAC-10 are counterparts, one for each side. Valve released the MP5-SD on August 15, 2018 as an alternative to the MP7, with an integrated silencer and higher movement speed.
MP9 and MAC-10
The MP9's only Covert is Starlight Protector, a unicorn with a rainbow mane over white with gold accents. It was one of 17 winners of Valve's 2021 Dreams & Nightmares Workshop contest; Valve's winners post credits it to TheDanidem, and each winning entry earned $100,000. It shipped in the Dreams & Nightmares Case in January 2022. Classified MP9s include Hydra from the CS20 Case (October 2019), a tribute to Operation Hydra, and Wild Lily from the St. Marc Collection, a blue lily over purple that has no StatTrak version.
The MAC-10 has two Coverts. Neon Rider (Chroma 2 Case, April 2015) shows a biker and runs only to 0.45, so there is no Battle-Scarred; the AK-47 got its own Neon Rider in 2018. Stalker (Shattered Web Case, November 2019) is a neon blue cat over yellow and black stripes. Disco Tech (Prisma 2 Case) uses a pearlescent finish that changes with the light. The MAC-10 also carries two pattern finishes: a Fade from the Chop Shop Collection, capped at 0.08, and a Case Hardened from the 2021 Dust 2 Collection, whose look depends on the paint seed as our blue gem guide explains.

MP7 and MP5-SD
The MP7's Covert is Bloodsport from the Clutch Case (February 2018), white logo decals over a red and black hydrographic, the same design as the AK-47 Covert from the Spectrum Case. Nemesis (Falchion Case, 2015) is a metallic monster capped at 0.32, and Abyssal Apparition came in the Dreams & Nightmares Case. The MP7's Fade is Restricted, from the 2018 Inferno Collection, and runs to 0.25 rather than the 0.08 where most gun Fades stop; Inferno packages at 11 Majors produced Souvenir copies.
The MP5-SD has no Covert. Its notable finishes include Phosphor (Danger Zone Case, December 2018), neon paint dripped over a dark base, and Oxide Oasis from the 2021 Mirage Collection, with Souvenirs from Mirage packages at eight Majors. Lab Rats has an unusual origin: when Valve launched Danger Zone and made CS:GO free to play in December 2018, it said Prime players could earn a Souvenir MP5-SD | Lab Rats by gaining XP in Danger Zone matches.
UMP-45
The UMP-45 has no Covert, so its Classifieds lead the way. Primal Saber (Chroma 3 Case, 2016) carries a sabretooth tiger skull. Momentum (Danger Zone Case) has bright forward-facing arrows and stops at 0.50. Its Fade is Classified, from the 2021 Dust 2 Collection, capped at 0.08, with Souvenirs from Dust II packages at six Majors; the fade percentage guide covers how fade is scored. The Mil-Spec Blaze from the Mirage Collection shares the Desert Eagle Blaze's airbrushed-chrome description and its 0.08 cap. The newest Classifieds are Neo-Noir (Gallery Case, 2024) and K.O. Factory (Fever Case, 2025), inspired by old cartoons.
P90
The P90 has two Coverts with very different windows. Death by Kitty, from the first eSports case in August 2013, is a hydro-dip of overlapping cat skulls that runs only from 0.08 to 0.32, so it exists only in Minimal Wear and Field-Tested. Asiimov came in the Operation Breakout Weapon Case in July 2014 and, unlike the AWP and M4A4 versions, reaches Factory New, with a range of 0.00 to 0.92. Asked by Fragbite in 2014 which Asiimov was his favourite, its designer Coridium chose the P90, calling it the most futuristic-looking gun.
Coridium also told Fragbite he made Trigon (Operation Phoenix Case, 2014) together with FACEIT; its range of 0.08 to 0.75 rules out Factory New. Other Classified P90s include Cold Blooded (CS:GO Weapon Case 2), chrome candied red with a laser-etched snake and capped at 0.08; Emerald Dragon, "a memento from Chinatown" from the Bravo Case; and Nostalgia (CS20 Case), which shows a CT from the original Counter-Strike main menu.

PP-Bizon
The PP-Bizon's only Covert is Judgement of Anubis from the Chroma 3 Case (April 2016), an Egyptian theme capped at 0.50. High Roller (Spectrum 2 Case, 2017) is a Classified with poker chips, dice and a royal flush over red.
Before you trade an SMG skin
Several SMG finishes skip whole exteriors: Death by Kitty and Trigon can't be Factory New, while the MAC-10 and UMP-45 Fades, the UMP-45 Blaze and Cold Blooded only come in Factory New and Minimal Wear. The float guide explains the tiers. Map collection finishes such as Wild Lily, Oxide Oasis and the UMP-45 Fade have no StatTrak versions. On CS2Sell, Buy filters by weapon, float range, fade percentage and paint seed.
