Recoil Case: USP-S Printstream, the Broken Fang gloves and its exit from drops

The Recoil Case arrived on July 1, 2022 with 17 community skins and the Broken Fang gloves. Full contents by rarity, the glove pool, the Printstream link and why it stopped dropping in March 2026.

The Recoil Case was the third and last case to carry the Broken Fang gloves. It arrived in July 2022 with the USP-S | Printstream and AWP | Chromatic Aberration as its Coverts, and it was still part of the weekly drop pool in early 2026. That ended in March 2026, when it quietly left.

A small update with a new case

Valve shipped the case on July 1, 2022 under the title "A New Cassssssse", the same snake hiss it had used for the Snakebite Case a year earlier. The post promised "17 weapon finishes from community artists" with "the Broken Fang Case Gloves as rare special items", and said the case was dropping in-game straight away.

The rest of the release notes were short: more construction work on the community map Ember and better support for custom game modes on community servers. The case was the main event.

The gloves

The pool is the 24-pair set that debuted in the Operation Broken Fang Case in December 2020 and returned in the Snakebite Case in May 2021. The Recoil Case reused it again without changes, so a pair from any of the three cases is the same item.

By glove type, the set holds:

  • Broken Fang Gloves, a type unique to this set: Jade, Needle Point, Unhinged and Yellow-banded.
  • Driver Gloves: Black Tie, Queen Jaguar, Rezan the Red and Snow Leopard.
  • Moto Gloves: 3rd Commando Company, Blood Pressure, Finish Line and Smoke Out.
  • Specialist Gloves: Field Agent, Lt. Commander, Marble Fade and Tiger Strike.
  • Sport Gloves: Big Game, Nocts, Scarlet Shamagh and Slingshot.
  • Hand Wraps: Constrictor, Desert Shamagh, Giraffe and CAUTION, which is spelled with an exclamation mark in game.

Every pair has a float between 0.06 and 0.80, the fixed range for all gloves, which leaves Factory New as a sliver from 0.06 to 0.07. There is no plain version without a finish, so all 24 pairs carry one of the designs above. Our gloves guide explains glove wear in more detail.

Standout skins

USP-S | Printstream. The Recoil USP extended the Printstream family that began with the Desert Eagle | Printstream in the Fracture Case in 2020 and continued with the M4A1-S | Printstream in the Operation Broken Fang Case. An AWP version followed in the Fever Case in 2025. The USP's float runs from 0.00 to 0.85.

AWP | Chromatic Aberration. The other Covert shares its name with the Galil AR | Chromatic Aberration, a Classified skin from the Snakebite Case, so the two neighbouring cases each have one. The AWP is capped at 0.70.

AK-47 | Ice Coaled. The case put its AK in the Classified tier, capped at 0.77, next to the P250 | Visions and the Sawed-Off | Kiss♥Love.

The cheaper tiers. The M249 | Downtown stops at 0.65, while the SG 553 | Dragon Tech and P90 | Vent Rush both stop at 0.70, so none of the three reaches the worst end of Battle-Scarred. Most of the Mil-Spec skins use the full 0.00 to 1.00 range. Our float guide explains how those caps affect each wear tier.

How the Recoil Case left the drop pool

The Recoil Case stayed in the active weekly pool long after its release. In January 2026, after older cases had stopped dropping altogether, Techaeris listed it as one of only five remaining containers, together with the Genesis Terminal and the Kilowatt, Revolution and Dreams & Nightmares cases.

That changed with Valve's March 11, 2026 update, which added the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal as a weekly drop. The news about the Recoil Case came from trackers rather than from Valve: on March 13 Fragbite reported that skin traders and tracking services had noticed it missing from the active pool, along with a burst of buying on the market. Techaeris later reported that Recoil had dropped out of the rotation when the Dead Hand Terminal arrived. As of October 2026, drop trackers still list it as discontinued.

With the Recoil Case gone, none of the three cases holding the Broken Fang gloves drops any more. The remaining routes to a pair are buying one or, since October 2025, a trade-up of five Covert skins, which can return gloves from the collection of one of the inputs (Covert trade-up article). For how the current pool works, see our guide to weekly drops.
