Overpass callouts mix two systems that rarely match: the place names CS2 shows on the radar, and the nicknames players use on voice. Valve uses many of those nicknames itself, from Monster and Bank in its official map guide to "party/picnic" and "long boost" in its patch notes. This guide puts both side by side, area by area.
How Overpass callouts work in CS2
Every area of a CS2 map has an official place name, shown next to a teammate's name in game and recorded in demos. MapSense, a demo viewer that reads these names from match demos, lists 25 on Overpass. Several of them differ from what teams say: the radar's Snipers Nest is the room players call Heaven, and its Restroom is what they call Toilets.
Valve's map guide, which ships with the game, names its lineups Monster, Heaven, Bank, Dumpster, Bridge, Sewer and T Ramp. Each lineup records where the grenade lands, so it shows which part of the map Valve means by each name. Every callout below is either on the radar or backed by at least two sources.
The Overpass layout at a glance
The Counter-Strike Wiki describes the setting as a canal overpass and the park above it in Berlin. CTs spawn on Bombsite A, at the top of the radar. Bombsite B sits right of centre, below CT spawn and reached by a stairwell. T spawn is at the bottom right, the park fills the left half, and the canal runs down the right side towards B.
T side and mid callouts
| Area | Callout | Where it is |
|---|---|---|
| T side | T Spawn | The Terrorist start at the bottom right of the radar |
| T side | T Ramp | The ramp from T spawn to Playground and Fountain |
| T side | Playground | The playground at the bottom left, outside the ramp |
| T side | Fountain | The large fountain just above Playground |
| T side | Tunnels | The tunnel from T spawn towards Connector |
| T side | Alley | The short route from T spawn towards B |
| T side | T Stairs, Side Alley | Radar areas above and right of T spawn |
| Mid | Connector | The stairs between mid and the lower tunnel, at the centre of the radar |
| Mid | Party | The picnic area with balloon-tied benches beside mid, also called Balloons |
| Mid | Restroom | The indoor area players call Toilets, left of centre |
| Long | Upper Park, Lower Park | The radar's names for the park on the left half |
| Long | Long | The wide route up the left side towards A |
| Long | Long Boost | A small generator on the CT side of Long |
Party shows how the two systems overlap. Hotspawn's guide calls the spot Balloons, after the benches with balloons tied to them. Valve's November 2024 notes removed a fence "at the edge of party/picnic", and a February 2026 patch simply "Fixed the Party balloons."

A site callouts
| Area | Callout | Where it is |
|---|---|---|
| A site | Bombsite A | The site at the top, where CTs spawn, with a wrecked truck in the middle |
| A site | Truck | The large truck in the middle of A |
| A site | Bank | The bank beside A; Valve's Bank smoke lands in the radar's Lobby |
| A site | Lobby, Storage Room | Radar areas above the site, where the bank is |
| A site | Back of A | The radar area behind the site, next to Stairs |
| A site | Dumpster | The trash container behind A, by the stairs |
| A site | Stairs | The stairs from A down towards Walkway and B |
Valve's July 2025 notes moved up "the wall behind dumpster, by A stairs" and adjusted the angle of the truck on A, so both names appear in Valve's own wording. Hotspawn calls the dumpster Trash.
B site callouts
| Area | Callout | Where it is |
|---|---|---|
| B site | Bombsite B | The site right of centre, built around a large cylindrical pillar |
| B site | Pillar | The pillar in the middle of B that holds up the overpass |
| B site | Barrels | The barrels at the back of B |
| B site | Snipers Nest | The radar's name for Heaven, the small room overlooking B |
| B site | Walkway | The short tunnel underneath Heaven |
| B site | Under A | The radar area between A and Heaven |
| B site | Water | The once-flooded area leading onto B from the left |
| B site | Bridge | The short bridge next to B |
| B site | Construction, Pipe | Radar areas below B, towards Alley |
| B site | Sewer | The watery area on the Monster side of B |
| B site | Canal | The radar's name for the area right of B |
| B site | Monster | The tunnel into B from the right, known for its monster graffiti |
Monster shows the gap between the radar and Valve's other files. The guide's Monster smoke lands in the area the radar calls Canal, while Hotspawn describes Monster as the tunnel leading to B, with a monster painted on its wall.
Overpass in CS2: changes that touched named spots
Valve updated Overpass twice around its return to Active Duty, and these changes mention callouts by name:
| Date | Change |
|---|---|
| November 2024 | Canals area and B site updated, the Heaven drop-down reworked, a sign added to block a line of sight from long boost to CT spawn, a fence at the edge of party/picnic removed, a chain link fence in alley removed, a handcart behind the B barrels removed |
| July 2025 | Breakable glass on the B doors, the Heaven railing adjusted, the A truck angled differently, the view from the truckbed to the stairs blocked, the wall behind the dumpster moved up |
| February 2026 | The Party balloons fixed |
| July 2026 | Overpass left the Active Duty pool, replaced by Cache |
Our November 2024 update article lists that rework in full, and our map pool history covers every time Overpass entered and left Active Duty. The July 2026 swap is in our Premier Season Five article, and the map that replaced Overpass has its own Cache callouts guide.
