Chroma, Chroma 2 and Chroma 3 cases: every skin and the Chroma knife finishes

The three Chroma cases from 2015 and 2016: each skin by grade, the 30 Chroma knives with Doppler, Marble Fade and Tiger Tooth, their float caps, StatTrak and where the cases stand now.

The Chroma Case changed what a knife could look like. It arrived in January 2015 with six new knife finishes, among them Doppler, Marble Fade and Tiger Tooth, and two sequels kept the same knife pool while adding new guns. Here is what each of the three cases holds, how the Chroma finishes work and where the cases stand in CS2 as of October 2026.

Three releases, one knife pool

Valve's release notes for January 8, 2015 added "the Chroma Case, that features new finishes for knives." The same patch put a seven-day trade and market restriction on keys bought from the Steam Community Market. The Chroma 2 Case followed on April 15, 2015, and the Chroma 3 Case on April 27, 2016. Valve's announcement for each sequel promised the same thing: a chance at a rare knife "with one of the six finishes featured in the original Chroma Case."

Each case has its own key, and the game files point all three at the same rare item list.

The Chroma knives

The knives are the original five: Bayonet, Flip Knife, Gut Knife, Karambit and M9 Bayonet. Each comes in six finishes, for 30 knives in all, and none comes plain. Ultraviolet is the sixth finish; for the other five, the game's item file sets these float ranges:

FinishFloat rangeExteriors
Doppler0.00 to 0.08Factory New, Minimal Wear
Marble Fade0.00 to 0.08Factory New, Minimal Wear
Tiger Tooth0.00 to 0.08Factory New, Minimal Wear
Damascus Steel0.00 to 0.50All five, Battle-Scarred only up to 0.50
Rust Coat0.40 to 1.00Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred

Doppler is really seven finishes under one name: Phase 1 to Phase 4 plus Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl, each a separate paint kit. Our Doppler phase guide explains how to tell them apart. Marble Fade's look depends on the pattern seed, which is why traders hunt "Fire and Ice" layouts; the pattern index guide covers that.

The Counter-Strike Wiki notes that the Spectrum cases later put the same six finishes on the Huntsman, Butterfly, Falchion, Shadow Daggers and Bowie, and the Prisma Case on the Navaja, Stiletto, Talon and Ursus.

What each case contains

The table follows the game's loot lists, which match the wiki's pages. The Chroma Case has 14 guns, Chroma 2 has 15 and Chroma 3 has 17.

Guns with tight float caps

  • AWP | Man-o'-war: 0.10 to 0.20, so only Minimal Wear and Field-Tested. The Negev | Man-o'-war in Chroma 2 uses the same finish and range.
  • Galil AR | Chatterbox: 0.35 to 0.85, so there is no Factory New or Minimal Wear copy.
  • UMP-45 | Grand Prix: 0.25 to 0.35, Field-Tested only.
  • Sawed-Off | Fubar: 0.40 to 1.00, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred only.

StatTrak and where the cases stand

Every gun and knife in the three cases has a StatTrak version; the game files list a StatTrak copy of the knife pool for each.

None of the three is in the current weekly drop pool. Community drop trackers have recorded no rare-pool drops since December 2025, as Hotspawn reported that month, and Valve hasn't commented, so each case's supply now only shrinks as people open them.

Since October 22, 2025, five Covert skins can be traded up into a knife from the collection of one of them. Because the three cases share one knife list, all six Chroma Coverts lead to the Chroma knives, and five StatTrak Coverts return a StatTrak knife. You can't choose the model, finish or Doppler phase of the result.

If you're shopping for one phase, the Doppler phase filter on Buy shows only that phase instead of every Doppler listing for a model.
